8 Easy Ways To Find Zen At Work

Posted by Trevida Staff - October 19, 2016

Working in an office is how the majority of Americans spend their days. Unfortunately, all that time behind the desk dealing with deadlines, difficult coworkers, and other forms of stress, often results in health problems such as hypertension and heart disease. Despite your best efforts to stay engaged in creative, relaxing activities, life doesn’t always support those dreams. Hence, day in and day out, life turns into a long scheduled and repeated to-do list. Those repeated tasks and mundane days,  can make even the most creative person, dull.  Doing the same thing day in and day out can leave a person feeling lazy, bored, and with no desire to work. Yet, there is hope to find zen in the workplace.

Although repetitive schedules can get boring, you can learn how to boost your creativity  for a more fulfilling and satisfying life. The following techniques are ways for you to incorporate zen into your daily life. As you do this, consider using the Zafu meditation pillow to practice mindfulness and daily meditation. While you may not see changes immediately, keep practicing mindfulness at work to increase your zen and help mix up your routine.

    1. Begin each day with 10 minutes of meditation

Each morning before you even begin your day, allow yourself to escape mentally and physically by allowing yourself 10 minutes of meditation.  Studies have shown that when you begin the day with mindfulness, you are more likely to spend the day productive, happier and even healthier. When you are feeling fresh, work becomes easier and more gets down. In a nutshell, a healthy mind always results in creativity. If you can find time during the day for a few 5 minute breaks to meditate, you will find your day goes smoother and is less stressed.

    2. Begin each day with a healthy breakfast at home
Take the time to sit down and eat a healthy breakfast before leaving the house. Even better, enjoy the meal with your spouse and kids. Instead of beginning the day without breakfast or rushing and eating on the go, take the time to relax and start the day calm. You will feel satisfied and fuller all day long.

    3.    Incorporate the Zafu meditation pillow

After sitting in a chair all day, the back can feel sore, cramped and stiff. Doing this day after day can only lead to years of uncomfortable conditions.  However, the fix is actually quite simple with the Zafu meditation pillow. This 100% organic buckwheat pillow is delicately made to provide hours of comfort to leave you feeling relaxed and free of back pain. When you are comfortable, you will be more productive and satisfied with your work environment.

    3.    Don’t get caught up in your mistakes

We all make mistakes. After all, we wouldn’t be human if we didn’t. Yet, sometimes errors at work are what lead to extra stress and anxiety. Additionally, over-stressing mistakes can actually lead to more! The best way to stay zen at work is to focus on the task at hand and not on the mistakes you may have made. Learn from your mistakes and grow from them.

    1. Keep your diet healthy

A long day at work means you will need to take a meal break. Rather than eating at your desk or grabbing something from the vending machine, try to get up, get out and enjoy a fresh, healthy meal away from the office. Avoid heavy fried foods as well as rich, creamy or sugary dishes. Look for options rich in protein and fresh vegetables. By eating a healthy meal at work you will find you have more energy and feel less sluggish in the middle of the day.

    1. Express gratitude

Remind yourself every single day of all the things you feel grateful, for life, and for 24 brand new hours each day to live and express yourself, creativity, and happiness.

    1. Stay positive

Mistrusting yourself and not believing in your work is an issue that you may not be even aware is happening.  You may unintentionally and subconsciously be putting yourself down.  This is totally unfair to you. Cherish your new ideas and creativity instead of caring what others think. Rather than focusing on the negative, turn your thoughts to positive and your whole outlook will change. Trust yourself, stay calm and go for it.

    1. Spotlight what matters

In your busy life you face various dilemmas, questions and uncertainties every day. Do your best not to lose focus and forget the important things that really matter as you go about solving the issues.  You matter and it’s important to not lose sight of that. Try to separate major issues from ones that you have no control over.

    1. Understand Priorities

There is a lot in life that you can not control so when you can control something, it’s important to take initiative and help yourself. You do not need to force yourself to say “yes!” to everything that comes your way. From lunch dates and parties to projects and meetings, do yourself a favor by taking control of your priorities. You will feel much more zen at work when you are not dreading all the opportunities and take control of what you really want to do.
